CESL Offers FreeIELTS Examiner Training
The University of Arizona Testing Center is an official IELTS test center and is looking for experienced instructors for IELTS examiner positions. IELTS is an English proficiency exam like TOEFL and has been used for many academic and professional purposes all over the world. (Details are available at http://www.ielts.org.)
IELTS examiners' responsibilities are to grade a speaking section (a 15-minute face-to-face interview) as well as a writing section (2 essays) of the exam. From time to time IELTS examiners are also required to attend mandatory follow-up training sessions to maintain their certifications.
Our center holds the IELTS test at the U of A, in Phoenix, and in Las Cruces, NM two Saturdays a month in one of these three cities. Due to the increase in the candidature, especially in the off-site locations, we would like to train additional examiners in order to be able to offer more testing services in the future.
The actual training sessions are to be held on August 7/8 for the Speaking module and on August 14/15 for the Writing module. Both are two consecutive full-day sessions, from 8 am to 5 pm, and examiner candidates are required to participate in the whole series of sessions to sit for the certification exams. Once candidates pass the certification exams, they will officially be qualified as examiners and start working on our test days. There is no fee for the training.
We hope that this training will give you an opportunity to advance your ESL career and would like to hear from you if you are interested in the training or if you have any questions about the IELTS or the examiner job itself.
Note: qualified examiners can earn up to $45 per hour.
